PLAIN-LANGUAGE DEFINITION

The total income generated by your business from selling goods or services before any costs are deducted. Also called 'top-line' income.

What to check

Revenue growth is not automatically profit growth. Compare sales trends with gross margin, cash collections, and the reporting period.

EXAMPLE / INTERPRETATION

Revenue of $750,000 means $750,000 in sales recorded for the period, not necessarily $750,000 in collected cash.
